HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) is the healthcare industry's membership organisation exclusively focused on providing leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology and management systems for the betterment of human health. COCIR is the voice of the European Radiological, Electromedical and Healthcare IT Industry. COCIR is a non-profit trade association, founded in 1959. COCIR’s members play a driving role in developing the future of healthcare in Europe and worldwide. COCIR is committed to supporting its members and communicating with its partners in Europe and beyond on issues which affect the medical technology sector and the health of European citizens.
As well as communicating with EU policymakers and European Governments on economic, regulatory and technical issues related to healthcare, COCIR works with various organisations to promote harmonised standards and fair regulatory control across the world. COCIR’s key objectives are to develop a European market for healthcare IT and maintain the competitiveness of the European industry.
The European Health Telematics Association (EHTEL) contributes to the implementation of information and communication technologies in the health and social sector. EHTEL believes that eHealth tools offer substantial benefits for improving quality of health for patients and citizens, access to services, efficiency of care and cost effectiveness.
EHTEL offers a platform to all stakeholders of eHealth to exchange information, identify problems and find solutions for the implementation of its goals. It realises these aims through networking, conferences, workshops and specific task forces.

European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) was conceived in 1976. The representatives of national Health/Medical Informatics societies from ten European countries signed a declaration of intent stating: "The Federation shall be constituted as a non-profit organisation concerned with the theory and practice of Information Science and Technology within Health and Health Science in a European context “. Since then, EFMI has been growing and today it is a federation of 33 national associations and 15 Institutional Members. The objectives of EFMI are:
- To advance international co-operation and dissemination of information in Medical and Health Informatics on a European basis by providing a platform to exchange information at conferences, events and through 17 working groups.;
- To promote high standards in the application of medical informatics;
- To promote research and development in medical informatics;
- To encourage high standards in education in medical informatics.
- To stimulate the involvement of young scientists in the domain of medical and health informatics.

HINE (Health Information Network Europe): For effective implementation of eHealth, buyers and sellers of ICT products and services require access to definitive and reliable market information on which to base critical investment decisions.
