Medical Imaging. Achievements and Challenges  click to read more
sponsored by: Accenture
Presented by:
Derek Danois
Accenture Health Partner
EALA Medical Imaging Lead
A Medical Imaging Network (MIN) is a standard-based technology platform that connects medical imaging information systems across professional and organisational boundaries, enabling healthcare providers in a region to Share Information, Collaborate and Manage Capacity. The enablement of a Medical Imaging Network delivers benefits to patients, clinicians and healthcare organisations such as:
  • Patient safety
  • Shortened patient wait time for diagnostics and treatment
  • Improved patient experience and diagnostic accuracy
  • Improved research and training capabilities
  • Flexibility in diagnostic service delivery models (e.g. “home working”)
  • Capabilities for supporting clinical flows and care pathways that are cross organizational
  • Improved risk and security
  • Reliability of technology investments
Through our experience of implementing regional medical imaging solutions we will present a case study with information about the key factors to consider, roles and responsibilities of the key stakeholders, lessons learned and qualitative/quantitative benefits. We will also try to answer critical questions like: will the solution replace my existing PACS or RIS?, will the solution shorten patient wait time for diagnostics and treatment?, will the solution improve diagnostic accuracy? and others.
