Minn. hospital uses IT to fight infection

Park Nicollet Health Services is implementing technology to help prevent healthcare-associated infections at 426-bed Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn. Park Nicollet will implement the Premier healthcare alliance's Safety Surveillor technology. The intent, according to hospital executives, is to help prevent healthcare-associated infections, commonly know as HAIs, and optimize antibiotic use. The result, they say, will be better protection for patients and reduced hospital costs. More than 200 hospitals have chosen Premiers Web-based solution.
